Technology is present in our daily lives, and taking advantage of new developments allows us to help players improve both individually and collectively.
Above all, it helps us notice the small details that are not easy to detect at first glance, and that can make a big difference.
Technology applied to player development
Nowadays, it’s the small details that can make the difference when it comes to progressing or becoming a better player. There are many factors to consider, and technology helps us address each of them in different ways.
With so many tools available, the first thing needed is a clear objective and a clear idea of what to work on at each moment and how.
In this post and the following entries, we’ll try to showcase the different tools that technology offers to improve basketball shooting and how to use them to enhance player performance.
In this particular entry, we’ll focus on the different variations that shooting work can offer.
Drills with Shooting Machine
The “star tool” for working on this aspect is the shooting machine.
It allows players to increase their shooting percentages from any position, whether static, on the move, or after dribbling.
This tool enables repetition of the same movement multiple times so that it becomes ingrained or internalized. It helps focus on each of the key details in the shooting motion.
What does training with a shooting machine allow you to do?
- Shooting arc: it forces the use of proper form. It’s specifically designed to help players who shoot with a flat trajectory to add lift and achieve the correct arc.
- Fluidity: this technology allows you to adjust the frequency at which the ball is passed, enabling increased shooting speed and adapting it to each player.
- Body posture and foot positioning: repeating the same movement over and over with proper body alignment helps players lock in these fundamentals and perform them correctly in real-game situations, improving both range and shooting technique.
- Shooting percentage: improving the mechanics, repeating movements, and internalizing them ultimately helps boost shooting accuracy in various situations.
Where to train basketball with a shooting machine
In our summer program, we have a shooting machine ready for use.
The main goal is to improve your shooting technique through tailored and dynamic training sessions designed to help you reach your best version.
You can use it by joining the ITW Sport summer program.
Want to buy a shooting machine?
If, on the other hand, you're thinking of adding this fantastic device to your backyard or sports area, here are a couple of online stores where you can get one:
- Tripl3 Shot
- Elksport
But be warned—they're not cheap!
Hope you found this interesting. Stay tuned for a new edition on technology applied to player development!
